Crowd Funding Round Up: 24th Jan

This week's crowd funding round up has a lot of treats to fit all tastes. The biggest project of the week seems to be La Granja Deluxe and it looks stunning. Have a look and tell me what you will be backing this week. After the expenses of last week's projects, I'm not sure if I will be backing any this week.

La Granja: Deluxe Master Set is an upgraded and expanded version of the 2014 game La Granja in which 1–4 players manage small farms by the Alpich pond near the village of Esporles on Majorca.

The players must carefully consider the decisions of which dice to draft, which cards to play, when and where to deliver goods to various markets, and how best to utilize the flexible powers afforded by several "anytime" actions.

The multi-use cards offer four different options for players to choose from. Decide whether you want to use the card as an extension to your fields (increasing your ability to grow olives, grain, or grapes), as an extension to your farm (increasing the number of pigs you can house, the deliveries you can make, or the coins you will earn each round), as a market barrow (providing a personal contract you can fulfill for valuable rewards), or as a hired helper (each providing a unique and powerful ability to improve your actions).

Game Round

Each game round follows a consistent and simple structure.

  1. Farm Phase

    • Play a farm card (optional)

    • Draw new card(s)

    • Take income

    • Farm growth (harvest goods and pigs)

    • Purchase roof markers (optional)

  2. Revenue Phase

    • Roll revenue dice

    • Draft a revenue die and perform the associated action (in turn order; repeated once)

    • Common action (undrafted revenue die)

  3. Transportation Phase

    • Choose donkey marker

    • Advance on siesta track and reset turn order

    • Deliver goods to common markets in the village, or to fulfill personal contracts

  4. Scoring Phase

    • Score victory points based on your position on the siesta track

    • Reset the siesta track

At the end of the sixth game round, the game ends, wherafter the players convert remaining farm goods and coin into victory points. The player with the most victory points is crowned the winner.

Deluxe Master Set

While La Granja Deluxe Master Set reimplements the beloved original game, it also adds a lot of never-before seen content, including modular expansion content designed by Michael Keller and Andreas "ode." Odendahl themselves.

Additional expansion modules have been designed by Stefan Feld, Adam Kwapiński, and Andrei Novac.

Many others have also participated in designing promo cards for La Granja Deluxe Master Set, including Tony Boydell, Mike Murphy, and David Waybright.

This Deluxe Master Set features brand new artwork, redesigned multi-layer player boards, high quality upgraded components, metal coins, and more.

A puzzly abstract card game of hens breeding.

In Hens you are a hens breeder! Each round you will play a hen card from your hand, trying to create a harmonious barnyard with different hen breeds. The rules to place cards are a few and simple, but the difficulty will be on making large groups of hens of the same breed.

At the end of the game you will gain points from your largest group of hens of the same breed in your barnyard, from your rooster token and from the goal card. Don’t forget some rare hens give you medals worth points at the end of the game.

The hens breeder with the best barnyard wins!

Astro Knights is a cooperative deck building game where your deck is never shuffled. Your goal is to defeat the Boss before it destroys your team or the Homeworld you’re defending.

Each round, the players and the Boss will take turns in a random order. During a player’s turn, they will be able to acquire Fuel, Tech, and Weapons from the supply, equip and attack with those Weapons based on the number of slots they have, gain new slots, power up, and use their special ability. All four of the Bosses in this game have their own decks and abilities, and will require a different strategy to be defeated

You look at the wrecked Huey, thankful you survived the crash. It got hit somewhere over the jungle. You lost the pilot. The gunner just fell out. Gone. On your way down you saw a glimpse of the other Huey. You think it got hit too, but you can't be sure. You look around at your squad — wild-eyed Marines fresh out of boot camp — and sigh heavily. You gotta move fast. VC will be coming...

Purple Haze is an immersive story-creation campaign game for 1 to 4 players that drops you into the heart of darkness: Vietnam, 1967. You lead a squad of U.S. Marines through the dense jungles, flooded rice paddies, and straw-thatched villages of a war-torn country. Gut-wrenching choices will determine the fate of you and your mission, showing if you have what it takes to survive.

It is in part a story-creation game, in part a tactical combat game, and in part a campaign game. Your decisions determine the story. Your tactics decide the outcome of life and death firefights. Your men will suffer. Some won't make it home. Those that do will get wiser, get tougher. The goal: Complete the mission, and get out alive.

Kingdoms Rise & Fall: Dorian is a strategic deckbuilding game set in a fantasy world (TBR Q1 2022). Explore Dorian with your unique character that progresses during the game and leads your army into battle. Build your deck of Combat cards based on your play style with either Stealth, Physical or Magic. Start Siege battles to capture locations or engage in Field battles to defeat your rival armies.

During the game, there will be a lot of player interaction. Players will negotiate, fight tactical battles by using their Combat cards and they might even betray each other. The player with the most Influencers Points (IP) wins the game. There are alternative victory conditions, like team battles and by capturing the capital.

The duration of the game can be controlled by choosing the number of rounds (Kingdom Event cards) and by setting a goal on the Influence Point Track. Meaning you can play a short 1-hour game or play for six hours or more.

Thunder Road: Vendetta is a revved-up restoration of the classic 1986 game of mayhem on the asphalt. Grab your crew, roll your dice, race your cars, shoot your guns, and try not to get wrecked.

This new version features exciting new additions, including random hazard tokens, such as wrecks, oil slicks, and more. Damage isn't merely one and done. Now, you'll draw damage tokens with exciting effects that can send your car careening across the board. You'll also have more choices on your turn, assigning one of your dice to your command board to repair damage, nitro boost, or send out your attack copter to fire away.

Summon Guardians is a 2-4 player war strategy board game. It combines the spirit of fantasy and adventure with strategic castle warfare. Players join an epic, centuries-old war for the realm of Quadrenna. Here, four Kingdoms battle over a centrally located territory known as the Wastelands. The main Battlefield of this war is the intersection of these Kingdoms, where each struggles to prevent the other from achieving victory.

Through their Queens, the four Kingdoms summon Guardians from throughout time and around the galaxy in an attempt to gain control of the Wastelands. The Kingdoms’ main tools for winning the war are their two Guardians, each of which has unique strengths and weaknesses. Although the Guardians’ attitudes about being summoned vary, they all loyally serve their Kingdoms and find high honor in their duty.

Each turn consists of 3 phases, in this order: Move, Card, and Action. The Move and Action phases are optional, but the Card phase is required. Both Guardians act during each phase; you can choose the order in which your Guardians act.

A Kingdom achieves victory when it obtains ownership of the Wastelands. This is achieved one of three ways: kill all enemy Guardians, kill all enemy Kings, or take ownership of the Red Jewel Platform in the center by sacrificing 5 Red Jewels to it after your Kingdom is fully Upgraded.

Jungleball is a small box dexterity game where you can draft a team of all-stars discovering powerful synergies between the large roster of unique players! You can assemble your players around an arena that changes with every game, toss dodgeballs at your opponents, move around the field, activate abilities, AND land critical hits until only one team remains!

Do you have what it takes to be a Jungleball champion?

Jungleball is a dexterity game that plays in about 15 minutes. The game is played through a sequence of turns where players will throw small wooden disks at their opponent's characters hoping to land on them and get them out. Every character has a number indicating the amount of dodgeballs that can land on them before they must go out. Activating a character allows the player to move that character anywhere on the board, use that character's unique ability, and then throw dodgeballs (wooden disks) from wherever they move that character to. Play ends if all the characters on one team go out, the player with characters remaining is the victor!
